The Truth Behind "Captain Philips" in Somalia

The Movie "Captain Phillips" portrays the experience of a cargo ship crew as they bravely journey the coast of Somalia, risking being hijacked by Somalian Pirates.

In the film we learn that the reason that these people are becoming pirates in this area of Africa is because they are fishermen who can no longer find fish to trade and live on, forcing them to become subservient to a gangster industry or piracy in order for their local village to survive.

What the film doesn't tell you is the reason why they cannot find any fish to bring home...
